Mau Wave Riders (MWR) is a family owned and operated business dedicated to providing each surf student with a fun, safe and unforgettable surf experience. MWR adapts their style of teaching to the ability of each student and goes that extra mile to make your surf experience the most memorable highlight of your vacation! For the convenience of their guests, MWR has two locations to choose from: Kihei (South Maui) and Lahaina (West Maui).
MWR specializes in all levels of surfing from beginning to advanced. The classes are two hours long and include instruction on the use of a rashguard, surf shoes, a soft top surfboard, and safety fins. The lessons include an approximate fifteen minute land lesson on the basics of surfing, emphasizing water safety. The rest of the time is spent with an instructor in the water teaching you how to catch your own waves and giving great surfing tips!
MWR guarantees the longest water time, and after the class students can continue surfing on their own (providing the boards are available). MWR's professional instructors are CPR/First Aid trained and provide quality surf lessons with a passion for teaching surfing. They have an excellent water safety record and have a strong knowledge of surf history. Our surfer/instructor ratio is five students to one instructor. We have male and female instructors. For children under seven we encourage parent participation or, perhaps, a private lesson. You too can learn to surf Hawaiian style!

Maui Wave Riders, Kihei Location: Located at 1975 S. Kihei Road, behind the 76 Gas Station on the lower road in Kihei. If you are coming from North Kihei go past Foodland and turn left on Alahele (just before the 76 Gas Station). If you are coming from south Kihei turn right on Alahele right after the 76 Gas Station. Look for our company vans. Lessons are taught at Kalama Park.
Maui Wave Riders, Lahaina Location: From Hwy 30 turn on Prison Street. Drive down to Front Street. Park in the 3 hour free parking lot on Prison and Front Street. Walk back up Prison Street one block to 133 Prison Street. Maui Wave Riders is located on the left side of Prison Street across from the Maui Medical Group. Look for the white Maui Wave Riders' Vans.

Tommy Castleton founded Maui Wave Riders in 1997. He has thirty-one years of surfing experience and has personally taught thousands how to surf in one easy lesson. Tommy's accomplishments are world renowned. Tommy's patience and surf experience make you feel safe and comfortable at all times.
Tommy and his Maui Waveriders instructors have taught thousands of people to surf, from as young as 3 1/2 to as old as 77 years old, no matter what size or shape.
